Tip #9: Send Your Save The Dates + Invites In A Timely Fashion. Especially if you’re inviting people from out of town or state. Just like you are going to need plenty of time to plan your wedding as the bride and groom, your guests need time to plan, so they can come to your wedding. Purchasing plane tickets, gifts, finding child care, taking off of work–all of those things need to be done quite a while in advance, and the longer you take to send out invites/save the dates, the fewer people are going to be able to do those things. You want as many of your friends and family to celebrate with you as you can, so give them a chance to do so!
So, what is timely fashion you ask? Well, that really depends… sort of. Typically, if you have about a year before your wedding. Etiquette would suggest sending your save the dates about 6- 9 months in advance, and your invites should always be sent 2-3 months from your date. This insures you give your guests adequate time in which to respond to your rsvp, and you get that count for food in advance. However, many times brides and grooms opt for a shorter engagements. We suggest sending the save the dates as soon as you have your venue and time figured out. With so many different options these days to get the word out it is really easy!
