Tip #4: Put down the phone!
Sometimes I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that we live in a culture where it’s actually a thing now to have designated wedding hashtags. I understand that it’s a super fun and easy way to get a variety of pictures from your wedding, it just makes me laugh.
I think unfortunately because of the technological culture we do live in, we sometimes tend to watch things through our phone cameras and don’t actually experience them in real life. Weddings are a place where we are meant to spend time with our closest loved ones, celebrating love and joy. It’s natural to want to capture those memories forever, but don’t be the person who is so concerned with capturing memories that you actually forget to make them.
It’s okay if you don’t get the perfect “insta-worthy” shot of the first kiss, or if you don’t live tweet the reception, or if your video of the send-off is blurry. You’re not there as the photographer— you’re there as a loved guest. Put your phone down, and enjoy the celebration. Tweeting, Instagramming and Facebook can wait. Be where you’re at!
