Casey + Steele’s wedding was one of the most unforgettable weddings I have had the privilege to be a part of.
Casey and her ladies began their day at Forsythe Salon getting their hair and makeup done. Meanwhile, the gents relaxed at Steele’s parents’ house eating tortilla soup and swapping stories. After spending some time taking photos the bridal party gathered together at Within Sodo, a popular venue in the industrial district of Seattle. Casey prepared a limerick for Steele to read in a journal they share. Steele read through it page by page, as Casey approached him for their first look.
Casey and Steele exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family. Complete with an exuberant “Mazel Tov!” celebrating Casey’s jewish heritage. The reception included a custom built photo booth crafted by one of Casey’s dear friends which then I was able to paint and style for their special day. Many hilarious stories and toasts were shared. The setting was a backdrop of market lights, paper lanterns, handmade signs and paper garland.
One of my favorite parts of the wedding was all the personal touches we were able to add. Since Casey is one of my friends it was really fun to help her create all these. Casey + Steele choose a color pallet of yellow and gray with accents of coral and mint. Simple bouquets of craspedia, ranunculus and roses were assembled with gray accents of ribbon and dusty miller. The boutonnières were wrapped craspedia (billy balls) with crushed gray velvet ribbon. Children received a hand draw coloring book sharing the couples love story. A yummy cupcake bar adorn with scrabble board messages, antiques and white milk bottles with flowers. Guestbook pages were on tables for each person to fill out and illustrate in their own special way to leave messages for the happy couple.
Each guest left with a jar of honey as a gift after a enthusiastic rain filled sparkler exit. Casey and Steele hopped into a classic cream colored car for their get-away and off to their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic.
